Moodus Center Master Plan

Moodus Center is an important village neighborhood in East Haddam, designed to cater to the local community, with small shops and restaurants.  Unfortunately, the Center's identity was diminished as a result of the 1970's urban renewal redevelopment, which prioritized vehicular travel at the expense of pedestrian spaces and safety.  Now, motor vehicles travel through rather than to the Center, detracting from the once rural mill town's community character

The Town's 2019 Plan of Conservation & Development )POCD) acknowledges that the Center is hampered by its appearance and aesthetics and suffers from limited traffic volume.  The POCD notes that Moodus Center is ready to pursue redevelopment and revitalization, through commercial and mixed-use development and streetscape enhancements.

East Haddam's Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) have teamed with SLR Consulting to develop a Moodus Center Master Plan, with the project kicking off in Spring 2024.  This site will be used to share project information and provide community engagement opportunities throughout the Plan's development.
